Some are activity specific, too, like the advanced relay defender mods that work exceptionally well for boss damage in the Garden of Salvation, but little else. Then there are specific armour sets with a fourth seasonal or activity-based slot, like the Dreambane armour set that has slot for an Undying Armor mod.

Regardless of armour type, all legendaries have three mod slots: one universal slot and two armour-specific mods Arms, Legs, Helmet, Chest, and Class Item.

Then it must have enough energy to power the mod. Mods also have energy types and will only work in specific types of armour. Mods also have an energy cost from one to six, which is based on their power and application. Then there are season-specific mods that can change how your grenades operate or add an extra overshield to your character, for example. Mods offer bonuses such as reload speed increases, better stats, boons against specific enemies. This guide covers everything, from where to get Destiny 2 armor mods, how they work, and the armour sets with which they work. The more accurate values are 13-14% for one mod, and 24% for two mods. What are the best Destiny 2 mods to suit your playstyle? Following the Destiny 2 armor 2.
DESTINY 2 SUPER MODS UPDATE
Update 9/9/21: An earlier version of this article listed the Kickstart mod regen amount as 10% per mod, up to 20%. But for normal play, including content like Dungeons or raids where champions either don’t exist or pose little threat, Stasis Kickstart mods are some of the best options for your builds. Mods slots on arms are incredibly competitive thanks to anti-champion mods. Unfortunately they likely won’t see much play whenever champions are involved. The Kickstart mods, particularly the grenade and melee versions, are fantastic and worth experimenting with. Your mods will trigger if you lob the grenade far enough so that your mods activate before the grenade strikes an enemy. This is most noticeable with Ashen Wake or Contraverse Hold: defeating or hitting an enemy with a grenade while using either exotic will trigger their built-in grenade refund mechanic, but Grenade Kickstart won’t trigger. There’s a catch: the Kickstart mods have an internal cooldown that prevents them from granting energy if you already gained an ability refund within about a second. In the case of Icefall Mantle you’ll receive your energy refund when the exotic effect ends. Utility Kickstart also triggers when you class ability is consumed, but I could only find two examples where this is relevant: Promethium Spur and Icefall Mantle.

Perpetuation costs twice as much energy, although it’s not exactly an energy hog to begin with.

You can’t combine the two mods together to get a 48% reduction in your class ability cooldown, so what’s the point? There are a couple of advantages that Utility Kickstart has, namely its low energy requirement. As a result it’s weirdly positioned against the existing Perpetuation class item mod. Unlike the other two Kickstart mods, Utility Kickstart is slotted into class items. Devour, for example, will trigger Grenade Kickstart. If you throw your grenade or consume it you’ll get the benefit of this mod. The phrase “fully expended” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Grenade Kickstart is similar: you’ll get ~13-14% of your grenade energy returned after your grenade energy hits zero. The clear answer to grenade uptime was Bomber: a mod for your class item that returns ~13-14% of your grenade energy when you use your class ability. And wow, I wish this mod had existed at the time. With its kit built around shatter there was a clear need to have some sort of freeze up as often as possible. I’d realized that Behemoth Titan didn’t have a freeze ability on its melee, which made it the only Stasis subclass that could only freeze with its super or grenade. Just before Beyond Light launched I was obsessed with finding ways to throw as many grenades as possible. Grenade Kickstart Enables Ridiculous Grenade Spam These mods are incredible and easily among the most powerful additions to the sandbox in Season of the Lost.
DESTINY 2 SUPER MODS UPGRADE
You’ll need to upgrade new armor, or change existing armor from Arc, Void, or Solar to Stasis, but it’s worth it. The addition of a new elemental type for armor is a bit of a mixed bag. The latest batch of new mods in Destiny 2 Season of the Lost include both new Elemental Well mods, plus new Stasis mods that fit into Stasis armor.
